About Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated- Xi Omega Chapter
For 100 years, Xi Omega has led with supreme service and sisterhood in Washington, D.C. Alpha Kappa Alpha founders Norma Boyd and Carrie Snowden were among the 20 visionaries who chartered the chapter in 1923. Through the years, Xi Omega has been home to several AKA founders and three international presidents. Today, Xi Omega's multi-generational membership exceeds 650 women, bound by a commitment to uplift lives and futures in the nation's capital.
In addition to generating funds for scholarships administered by its Pearl and Ivy Educational Foundation, Xi Omega supervises three undergraduate chapters — Alpha Chapter (Howard University), Beta Lambda Chapter (University of District of Columbia) and Lambda Zeta Chapter (American University) — and owns Xi Omega Center in northwest DC.
